Tom made his second appearance at the prestigious Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles on March 29, 2009. Fantastic musicians included: Lulee Fisher (vocal), Ira Nepus (trombone), Carol Chaikin (saxes & flute), Mike Polesky (harmonica), Art Gilbert (piano) & Steven James (bass).

MUSICAL CAREER BIO:
 
For many years, Tom Haberman traveled the world aboard the finest cruise liners as a band leader, drummer, show conductor, arranger & contractor. Tom and his bands have worked with hundreds of entertainers including Neil Sedaka, Maureen McGovern, Michel LeGrand, Tommy Tune, Charo, Lucie Arnaz, Petula Clark, Marilyn McCoo, Shirley Jones, Bill Cosby, Diana Ross, Vic Damone, Diahann Carroll, Carol Channing, Joel Grey, Debbie Reynolds, Marvin Hamlisch, Richard Carpenter, Maxine Andrews (The Andrew Sisters), Carol Lawrence, Clint Holmes, Don Ho, Sheilds & Yarnell, Hal Linden, Jack Jones, The Smothers Brothers and many others.
 
Recently, Tom was the drummer for the 2006-7 Ray Charles Tribute US Tour:
"I Can't Stop Loving You."
 
From 1993-99 Tom was Musical Director on the number one cruise ship in the world*, the Royal Viking Sun, where he did 6 World Cruises and backed over 150 different shows each year. He has also worked as a Musical Director for Princess Cruises ('01-'04), Norwegian Cruise Line ('90-'93), Crystal Cruises/Asuka in Japan ('92-'93), American Hawaii Cruises ('86-'89), as well as five star resorts such as the Arizona Biltmore ('89-'90), the New Orleans Sheraton/"French Quarter Follies" ('84) and others. In addition to his performance career, Tom has been an outside contractor, hiring show bands and musicians for such cruise lines as Cunard Line, Ltd., Seabourn Cruise Line, Royal Viking Line, and others (1992-2001).
 
Tom has built one of the most extensive arrangement libraries around, with over 700 fully scored tasteful arrangements by some of the top arrangers in the music business. His band also has two different fine recordings available both on compact discs and cassette tapes, and has also recorded for many other artists throughout his career.
 
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984, studying psychology at the University of Rochester (NY), and percussion & jazz studies at the Eastman School of Music. In 1983, he was selected from national auditions to be a member of Walt Disney's renowned All-American College Band, where he backed jazz celebrities, and performed in front of many. From 1981-84 Tom was the regular drummer for the premier big band in Rochester, the Nate Rawls Big Band. This 18 piece group, made up of top players from Eastman, performed regularly at Kodak, Xerox, as well as jazz festivals, television and radio programs throughout western New York. Thoughout the '80s, Tom subbed on various NY broadway shows including "Little Shop of Horrors" (1986), "Leader of the Pack" (1985), "Teddy and Alice" (1987) and others. He was also founder/composer of the popular college band Every Good Boy Does Fusion (1983-86).
 
Tom has studied with: Bernie Dresel (Brian Setzer Big Band), Rich Thompson (Count Basie Orchestra), Casey Casino (NY Broadway Show), Steve Houghton (LA Studio), Ed Soph (Woodie Herman); as well as renowned classical percussionists: John Beck, Thomas Brown, Howard Potter and others. He also studied with famed arrangers: Rayburn Wright, Fred Sturm, Ray Ricker and Zack Smith.
 
His influences are: Butch Miles, The Count Basie Orchestra, Sammy Nestico, Steve Gadd, Buddy Rich, Bill LaVorgna, Stuart Copeland, Philly Jo Jones; as well as Spyro Gyra & Tom Scott.
 
Originally from the New York City area, Tom now makes his home in Redondo Beach, California in the Los Angeles area where he works as free lance musician. From 1989-2001, he was based in Scottsdale, Arizona where he worked regularly in the Phoenix music scene, when he was not cruising around the world. His hobbies include tennis, baseball (Yankees!), travel, reading, movies, and presidential trivia.
 
His father, Daniel, founded the American Poets Corner at the Cathedral of St. John the Devine (NYC) in 1984 and his step-mother is renowned concert pianist Barbara Nissman.
